OUR VISION

“To educate girls is to reduce poverty.” – Kofi Annan.
We strive to alter the vicious circle of poverty in rural communities by the empowerment of girl children through education and by imparting life skills through vocational training.

OUR MISSION

We are passionately focused on fulfilling the right to education for every girl child from disadvantaged communities. We empower girl children through holistic education and vocational training. We provide a platform to unleash their creative genius and to become the person that they aspire to be. We strive to blur the lines between the educational disparities of the mainstream Indian society and the marginalized sections of the society. We lavish our love, care and support to every child placed under our care.
“Look for a way to lift someone up. And if that’s all you do, that’s enough.” – Elizabeth Lesser.
We are a passionate team of compassionate change makers. We call our establishment as Karunai Karangal India (KIND), literally translated as ‘hands of compassion’. It is a secular, non-political Charitable Trust with a realistic vision and uplifting service to the community. KIND selflessly strives to elevate the standard of living of girl children from a background that is stained with poverty, illness, ignorance and deprivation.

PURPOSE OF KANRUNAI KARANGAL

“If kids come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important.”— Barbara Colorose.
Besides focusing on the education and empowerment of girl children, we cater to the needs of working mothers. We provide day care services to children under the age of five. The physical, emotional, mental and social development of the children under our care will be our sole responsibility. We provide nutritious meals and impart education through an informal but a well charted out syllabus. We also assist the parents in the admission of these children in the formal school at the age of six.
